Academic Awards
COSAM Academic Awards Information
Each year, the COSAM Associate Dean for Academic Affairs office oversees the nomination and selection processes for a number of academic and teaching awards recognizing undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty for their achievements.
Nominations and self-nominations are accepted during the month of November using the Qualtrics links on the COSAM Academic Awards Nominations page. Students are encouraged to identify nominators and support letter writers before a nomination is submitted. This will ensure adequate time for processing letter requests before the departmental awards selection deadlines in January.
Timeline:
- November 1 - 30: Nominations are accepted via Qualtrics (required information can be found within each award-specific survey)
- December 1 - January 31: Departments process nominations/collect support letters and make:
- Selection decisions for Dean's Medalist and Outstanding Junior awards
- Recommendations for the Schneller Award, Comer Medalists, President's Award, GTA Awards, Faculty Awards, and International Student Awards.
PLEASE NOTE: Departments will have varying deadlines for the submission of support letters. Please check with the respective department representative (found in the Selection Procedures file below) for more information.
- Mid to late February: Award recipients will be notified of their selection.
- College-level awards (Dean's Medalist, Outstanding Junior, the Scheneller Award, GTA Awards, International Student Awards, Undergraduate Faculty Mentor, Undergraduate Faculty Teacher) are presented at the COSAM Honors Convocation in April.
- University-level awards are presented at separate ceremonies throughout the Spring semester.
