GEAR UP Achieve is dedicated to increasing college and career pathway awareness and preparing students for the workforce. The current GEAR UP Achieve cohort of students are members of high school graduating class of 2029 and began receiving services in the 2024-25 school year. GEAR UP Achieve mentors a cohort on a whole grade approach. Students in the cohort will receive mentoring services from 8th grade through their first year of post-secondary education at a four-year university or college, a two-year community college or trade school, or accredited certificate program.

GEAR UP Achieve is free to all program participants and offers additional academic resources that can help inform students’ college and career planning. Through regular sessions with a designated GEAR UP Achieve school liaison, students develop goal-setting and problem-solving skills that will serve them through their education journey and into the future. With an emphasis on college and career readiness, GEAR UP Achieve students gain a head start on planning for their futures and preparing to be contributing members of their communities.

Administered through the Auburn University College of Education’s Truman Pierce Institute, the Auburn University Center for Educational Outreach and Education and the Department of Curriculum and Teaching, GEAR UP Achieve utilizes evidence-based college-readiness objectives to set students up to succeed.
