GEAR UP Achieve is an initiative of Auburn University supported by the federal GEAR UP program. The Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) initiative is one of the largest and most effective programs focused on increasing the college and career readiness of students in communities nationwide. GEAR UP state and partnership grants exist in all 50 states to provide greater access and opportunities to underserved students.
Our Events
Auburn University’s GEAR UP Achieve initiative is inviting qualified contractors and vendors to submit proposals for educational programming designed to empower Alabama’s 9th-grade students, their families, teachers and communities.
In recognition of the significant impact that GEAR UP Achieve is making in communities across Alabama, Governor Kay Ivey proclaimed Sept. 22-26 National GEAR UP Week in the state.
For Jessean Patterson, the sky is the limit but first comes high school. The rising ninth grade student from Brundidge, Alabama is a GEAR UP Achieve scholar at Pike County High School and his resume is already bursting at the seams.
The GEAR UP Achieve summer camp at Auburn provides rising high school students from across Alabama with an immersive experience into college life, focusing on academic enrichment and social development.
With the close of the 2024-25 academic year, the 6,500 students enrolled in GEAR UP Achieve's federally funded program designed to improve students’ academic and career outcomes are leaving middle school behind and preparing to kick off the next step in their academic journeys.
