This program highlights a country or region of the world for in-depth education and awareness each academic year. The 2018-19 academic year featured the Year of Canada, 2019-20 was the Year of Cuba, and 2021-22 is the Year of Germany.

2021-22 – Year of Germany

  • Fall 2021 Programming:
    • Culture & Cuisine Class: September 13 from 5:30 – 8 p.m. at the Spidle Hall Kitchen, floor 2 – Cook and enjoy a traditional German dish
    • Window to Your World Lunch Seminar: September 15 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Student Center, 2326 – Lunch featuring a presentation on working across cultures in the United States and Germany by Corinna Luz and Denis Haehn from Straehle + Hess USA, Inc.
    • Watch the World International Film and Dialogue Series: September 16 from 5:30 – 8 p.m. in the Library, 4129 – Screening of the German film "Goodbye, Lenin!" with free pizza and beverages
    • International Cultural café : September 23 from 2:30 – 4 p.m. in the Foy Hall Lobby – An informal and relaxed forum for cultural expression and education conducive to an inclusive and culturally competent university community
    • Year of Germany Tailgate: September 25, three hours prior to kickoff at the Auburn vs. Georgia State homecoming football game. The tailgate will be held next to Spidle Hall, at the corner of Mell Street and Roosevelt Drive. Guests can expect servings of traditional German food and beverages, as well as interactive musical and dance activities. All members of the Auburn Family are welcome and encouraged to attend and participate in the festivities.
