AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn University Committee for Strategic Internationalization, in partnership with the American Council on Education Internationalization Laboratory, is undergoing an internationalization review process to assess the current state and needed activities, processes or policies in moving Auburn toward its vision and goals for internationalization. To contribute to this process, the Office of International Programs will host a three-part lecture series titled ‘Internationalization in Context: Considering the Possibilities for Auburn’ on April 2, 9 and 16. All available Auburn faculty are encouraged to attend.
Each lecture is designed to address the committee’s three areas of focus—research, strategic partnerships and student experience—with expertise and strategies used by higher education institutions well-known for their international efforts.
The Internationalizing the Curriculum lecture and Q&A will be April 2 from 9-10:30 a.m. in Student Center 2310, and will be led by guests Hilary Kahn, assistant dean for International Education and Global Initiatives at Indiana University and Hilary Landorf, executive director, Office of Global Learning Initiatives at Florida International University.
The International Partnership Possibilities lecture will be April 9 from 9-10 a.m.in Student Center 2107 with a corresponding Q&A session from 2-3 p.m. in Library 3129. The lecture will be led by William Brustein, vice president for Global Strategies and International Affairs at West Virginia University.
The Understanding International Rankings lecture will be April 16 from 9-10 a.m. in Student Center 2310 with a corresponding Q&A session from 2-3 p.m. in Student Center 2227. The lecture will be led by Daniel Guhr, managing director and strategy expert at Illuminate Consulting Group.
The Committee for Strategic Internationalization will complete the internationalization review process at the end of the fall 2019 semester, and based on the findings will then develop an outline for the final ACE Internationalization Laboratory report. That report will then be reviewed by ACE Lab Advisor Robin Helms and later submitted to Auburn's administration.
The ACE Internationalization Laboratory reports, outlining the details of each committee meeting, can be found on the Office of International Programs’ website, along with more information on the internationalization initiative.
