Physical Education

Physical education teachers work with students in K-12 schools to teach exercise and physical activity. They work with students to improve their movement skills and fitness levels and be independent in their movement pursuits. Physical Education teachers set the groundwork for children to pursue a lifetime of physical activity and healthy living. Physical Education classes are about much more than sports—through physical education, students are developing cognitively, emotionally and socially. Physical Education teachers work with students of varying skillsets and teach them that physical fitness contributes to their overall well-being.

Careers
With a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education Teacher Education, graduates can seek employment as a health and physical education teacher at elementary, middle and high schools. Other employment options include: middle/high school coach, physical activity instructor at a university or community college, physical education director in a school system and physical education professor in a university.
