Dear Colleagues,

As we prepare for the first day of classes on Monday, I want to wish you a fantastic start to the fall semester. There’s a special kind of energy that returns to campus with our students – an enthusiasm that fills our classrooms and campus with excitement and possibility. Thank you for all you do to make Auburn such a vibrant and inspiring place for our students to learn and grow.

I am following up on an item I mentioned in my recent faculty letter. This week, we officially launched the search for an Interim Dean of the Graduate School. This is a key step in advancing our strategic goals and continuing to elevate graduate education at Auburn. As you know, our graduate programs are central to our mission—driving research, sparking innovation, and preparing future leaders across our disciplines. The interim dean will help maintain momentum in these areas and provide steady leadership during this transitional period.

With a planned start date of October 1, the interim dean will serve until a permanent appointment is made and will be a vital member of our academic leadership team. We’re looking to build a strong pool of candidates, and I encourage eligible faculty—tenured full professors with leadership experience in graduate education—to consider applying or nominating a colleague who would thrive in this role. Interested candidates should submit a brief statement of interest and a current CV to Dr. Angela Wiley, Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness, by August 29, 2025.

Thank you again for your commitment to Auburn’s academic mission. I look forward to a wonderful semester ahead!
War Eagle,
Vini Nathan
