It is important to add a statement about Academic Integrity in course syllabi. Descriptions of academic integrity violations can be found in the Academic Integrity Policy. To encourage academic integrity in your course, a statement about academic integrity should be added to the course syllabus.
A few example statements that can be used in course syllabi are listed below. Feel free to use all or parts of these statements in your syllabi. If there are violations that are specific to your course, those violations should be added to the Academic Integrity statement in the syllabus.
Example Statements
Auburn University upholds the highest standards of honesty and integrity in all academic pursuits. Students are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with these principles at all times. Please review Auburn University’s Academic Integrity Policy to familiarize yourself with actions that constitute violations of this policy. All components of the Academic Integrity Policy apply to this course. Any alleged violations will be reported to the Office of the Provost for review and appropriate action.
All Auburn University students are expected to act with honesty and integrity in all their academic work. All work submitted in this course must be your own. Violations of the Auburn University Academic Integrity Policy include, but are not limited to plagiarism, unauthorized re-use of student work, unauthorized use of materials or resources, fraudulent documents, and inappropriate assistance on exams. This includes the unauthorized use of AI. All instances of alleged violations of the Academic Integrity Policy will be reported to the Office of the Provost for review and appropriate action.
All Auburn University students are expected to familiarize themselves with the university’s Academic Integrity Policy. All portions of the Academic Integrity Policy will apply to this course. All violations of the Academic Integrity Policy will be reported to the Office of the Provost for review and appropriate action. In addition to the violations listed in the Academic Integrity Policy, the following violations are specific to this class: using notes/cell phones or looking at other students’ answers during tests, sharing exam questions/answers via text, GroupMe, or other means, and submitting fake or forged excuse letters.
All aspects of Auburn University’s Academic Integrity Policy will apply to this course. Unauthorized use of AI is included in violations of the Academic Integrity Policy. However, for this course, students are allowed to use AI to brainstorm ideas or check grammar. Presenting content generated through AI as original work is considered unauthorized use of AI. All students found to have allegedly violated the Academic Integrity Policy will be submitted to the Office of the Provost for review and appropriate action.
