Lt. Col. Meredith Young - Bio
 
			Lieutenant Colonel Meredith I. Young is the Professor of Aerospace Studies and Commander of Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 005 at Auburn University. In this capacity, Lieutenant Colonel Young serves as the head of the University’s Aerospace Studies department, instructs leadership courses on national security affairs and airpower history, supervises six faculty and staff members, and has overall responsibility for training and mentoring more than 150 students preparing to become Air Force and Space Force officer
Lieutenant Colonel Young received her commission as a Second Lieutenant through the Reserve Officer Trainings Corps from Auburn University in 2007. She is a senior Combat Systems Operator with over 2000 flying hours, including more than 900 combat hours. She has flown in and supported multiple Combatant Commands including CENTCOM, INDOPACOM, NORTHCOM, SOUTHCOM and EUCOM. Before this assignment, Lieutenant Colonel Young served as the Commander, Combat Training School, USAFE-AFAFRICA Warfare Center, at Einsiedlerhof, Germany.
Lieutenant Colonel Young’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters and the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters. She graduated from the Air Force’s Safety School, Squadron Officer School, and Air Command and Staff College. She is a Dadeville, Alabama native and she currently lives on Lake Martin.
