Academic Events
The Provost's Office Academic Events team comprises experienced event and creative professionals who support key Provost Office events. The team plans and executes academic events that align with the university's strategic goals of providing exceptional student experiences, excellence, and innovation. Key events include commencement, building openings, groundbreaking ceremonies, and faculty and staff recognition events.
Commencement: The team manages all commencement exercises for the institution, including logistical arrangements, safety plans, communications with appropriate staff, ticketing, venue preparation, staffing plans, managing audio-visual contracts, photography/video, catering, special needs accommodations, and more. They also oversee all logistic and contingency plans and associated communication strategies with Campus Safety, Auburn Police, Auburn Fire Department, and Risk Management and Threat Assessment.
Academic Leadership Retreat: An annual retreat held during late summer/early fall for 125+ members of the university's leadership to address key academic topics for the academic year.
Endowed Faculty Recognition: An annual event held in the fall to recognize faculty appointed or reappointed to endowed positions.
Faculty Awards: An annual event held in the fall to recognize faculty award recipients.
Advising Awards: An annual event hosted in the spring to highlight advising excellence.
Special Events: Additionally, the events team leads and coordinates special academic and university events, such as the President's Installation, Alabama Supreme Court Oral Argument, and building openings, among others.
