What are the requirements for Auburn First?
To participate, students must be in the 10th grade or higher, have a minimum 3.0 high school GPA, and have a high school letter of support submitted by their high school principal/counselor confirming their readiness for college work.

How do I apply to Auburn First?
Interested students may apply using the Auburn University application for admission. When completing the application, choose “Auburn First.” Applicants must submit an official high school transcript and letter of support. These can be mailed to the address below or submitted via eScrip-Safe or Parchment if your high school utilizes this electronic delivery method.
A $50 application fee is due at the time of application.

How do I register for Auburn First classes?
Once you have submitted your enrollment deposit, the Auburn First student services team will reach out to your Auburn email address to assist you with course registration. Please be sure you have activated your account and are checking your Auburn email to receive this information.

How many hours can I earn as a dual-enrolled student?
Auburn First students are limited to a total of 24 credit hours.

Does being accepted in Auburn First guarantee admission as a degree-seeking student?
No. Admission to Auburn University as a degree-seeking student can be achieved either through meeting the requirements for automatic admission through Auburn First OR applying through the regular admission process.

Can I qualify for automatic admission to Auburn University through Auburn First?
Alabama residents participating in Auburn First qualify for automatic admission to Auburn University if they achieve the following:
Successfully complete 6 or more credit hours of coursework listed on the Courses page by August 15 of your senior year
Earn a minimum cumulative 3.0 unadjusted Auburn University GPA

If I qualify for automatic admission through Auburn First, am I eligible for scholarships?
Students pursuing automatic admission to Auburn University must follow regular procedures, requirements, and deadlines associated with university scholarships. Visit the Scholarship Checklist page from the Office of University Scholarships for details. Students must request testing agencies to send their standardized test scores to Auburn for scholarship consideration.

If I do not qualify for automatic admission through Auburn First, how do I apply for admission to Auburn?
Auburn First participants who do not qualify for automatic admission may apply to Auburn University through the regular admission process.

Will these courses look different on my transcript than regular Auburn University courses?
No. You will be taking the same courses we offer to undergraduate students at Auburn University.

How much does Auburn First cost?
Auburn First courses cost a flat fee of $550 per course for the 2020-2021 academic year for Alabama residents. Non-residents will be charged the in-state tuition rate of $420 per credit hour for the 2020-2021 academic year. Once accepted to Auburn First, both resident and non-resident students must submit a $250 enrollment deposit to be applied toward tuition.

What resources are available for Auburn First students?
Auburn First students will have access to Auburn University academic resources including the RBD Library, tutoring services, Office of University Writing, academic support, academic advising, Adobe Creative Cloud and Office 365. Auburn First students do not have access to Tiger Transit, athletic tickets and events, the student recreation center, student organizations, and on-campus student events.

How does my high school establish a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) so that I can receive high school credit?
For a student to receive high school credit for an Auburn First course, the student’s high school must have a signed MOU with Auburn University. If your high school does not have an MOU, have your principal or counselor contact the Auburn First student services team (aufirst@auburn.edu or (334) 844-8732). Once an MOU is in place, your high school will apply your Auburn First grade to your high school record per its policies.

Can I enroll in courses not listed on the course page?
Yes, you may enroll in online or campus courses not listed on the Course page. However, these courses will not count towards automatic admission. Contact the Auburn First student services team for assistance (aufirst@auburn.edu or (334) 844-8732).

Are books and materials provided as part of the tuition cost?
No, only course tuition is covered. There may be additional expenses for textbooks and class supplies. The AU Bookstore can assist with questions about textbooks 334-844-4241.

How do I pay for classes?
All billing is done electronically. An email notification is sent to your Auburn University email address when you have a bill to view. You can access your eBill through AU Access.

Is there any financial assistance available for dual-enrolled students?
Auburn First classes are offered at a discounted rate. Students are not eligible for Auburn University scholarships or federal financial aid while enrolled in Auburn First courses. Employee dependent waivers do not apply to Auburn First courses.

When will my classes end and final exams take place?
Visit Auburn University’s academic calendar to see important dates. Your professors will also list due dates in your course syllabi. Be sure to review both of these carefully.

Will I need a student ID (Tigercard)?
While not required, Auburn First students are permitted to get a student ID called a Tiger Card. This ID will allow you to check out books or resources at the campus library. If you wish to get a Tiger Card visit the Tiger Card office in 261 Foy Hall.
