For Counselors
We are excited to offer Auburn First for your students to pursue college credit while still in high school. Helpful information is outlined below. Please contact the Auburn First team with any questions you have at aufirst@auburn.edu or 334-844-2529.
High schools interested in offering their students dual credit for college coursework are invited to establish a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Auburn University. Access the MOU here and contact the Auburn First team with any questions. We look forward to working with you to support your student’s academic goals.
A digital Letter of Support completed by their high school counselor or principal and an official transcript is also required for an application to be considered complete. Counselors will receive an automated email when the student completes an Auburn First application, prompting them to complete a digital Letter of Support and upload an official transcript.
This counselor handout includes helpful information on eligibility, course credit, automatic admission, course details, courses offered, and course codes. You may find it useful when meeting with students interested in dual enrollment opportunities. The most up-to-date course list can be found on the Courses page.
Please note: Courses are subject to seat availability, and the Auburn First team cannot guarantee enrollment in any course. Students are encouraged to finalize their applications early to secure their course selections. Course availability for any student is not guaranteed until Auburn First has registered the student into the course.
Once a student has been admitted to our program, and their non-refundable enrollment deposit has been received, our team will reach out to their new Auburn email with more information about course registration. Auburn First students will register by term while enrolled in our program. Course registration for spring semesters will open in October. Registration for summer and fall semesters will open in March.
At the beginning of each semester, our team will send enrollment verifications to all high school counselors with students enrolled for that term.
If a dual enrollment student's cumulative Auburn GPA falls below a 2.0, the following requirements for continuous eligibility apply to Auburn First dual enrollment students:
-
The student will be enrolled in a free, online Action course designed to provide personalized academic support to improve students' GPAs and assigned an Action success coordinator. Completion of this course is required to enroll in future terms.
-
If already enrolled for the upcoming term, students are permitted to remain enrolled in one academic course alongside the Action course.
-
-
The Action course and acknowledgement form must be completed by the term deadlines provided in the full policy.
-
Once the student's cumulative Auburn GPA is above a 2.0 and the Action course has been completed, continuous eligibility restrictions will be lifted.
** Dual enrollment students must consult their high school counselors to ensure that the continuous eligibility policies at their school are also met.
