Ready to Be a College Student?

Step 1: Meet with Your Counselor

  • Decide if online, asynchronous college classes are a good fit for you.

  • Talk to your high school counselor about dual enrollment at your school. You'll need their support after you apply—get their email and phone number.

  • Check our application deadlines chart to know when you should apply. Hint: Apply for the semester you plan to take your first class.

Step 2: Apply Online

  • Submit your new student application on our website using a personal email (not your school email).

    • Attention parents! Don’t use your email to sign up. Have your student use their email and you can add yours later in the application.

  • Pay the $50 application fee (waivers available in application).

  • Inside the application, send your counselor a request for:

    • A Digital Letter of Support

    • Your official transcript

  • If you meet our criteria and have a completed application, you will receive your Next Steps beginning October 20. Check your application at apply.auburn.edu/status.

Step 3: Next Steps

  • Beginning October 20, look for a Next Steps email with instructions for:

    • Paying your $250 enrollment deposit (non-refundable and goes toward first-semester tuition)

    • Activating your Auburn account

    • Completing our Student Orientation and signing up for classes

Step 4: Complete the Student Orientation

  • Give it 24-48 hours for your enrollment deposit to process. Then check your Auburn email for info about the online Student Orientation in Canvas.

  • Complete the Student Orientation to learn how to use Canvas and register for classes as a first-time student.

    • Hint: When you get to register for classes depends on when you submit your enrollment deposit and complete the Student Orientation, so don’t delay.

New Student Application

New Auburn First students should submit an application below once they have:

  • 1. Discussed dual enrollment opportunities with their high school counselor.

  • 2. Decided which semester they will begin taking classes.

What semester do you plan to take your first class?

**By selecting an application term, you are declaring the term that you plan to begin taking Auburn First classes. Students must take a class in their application term to register for classes in a future term.

**The $50 application fee is non-refundable. If you have applied before, please contact aufirst@auburn.edu before applying again.

Students should use their own email address when filling out an application. Also, it is best to avoid using high school email addresses. Don’t worry! There will be a place on the application to list parent/guardian email addresses, so you will be kept in the loop.

Yes. By selecting an application term, you are declaring the term that you plan to begin taking Auburn First classes. Students must take a class in their application term to register for classes in a future term.

  • Do not enroll in any Auburn First courses for the term they were admitted.

This does not apply to students who withdraw from their entire schedule and receive a W on their Auburn transcript. Additionally, this only applies to students who are in their first semester!

No. When filling out an application, select the term that you will begin taking classes. Registration for Summer and Fall classes is concurrent. If you are applying for a Summer term, you will also be able to register for Fall classes.
