2026 Provost Academic Advising Awards spotlight advising excellence
The Office of the Provost announces the recipients of the 2026 Provost Advising Awards, which recognize outstanding contributions to academic and professional advising across the university.
Presented annually, the awards honor advising professionals and teams whose work advances student success through innovation, collaboration, leadership and sustained commitment to excellence. Together, the awards highlight the many ways the university’s more than 200 advisors support Auburn students academically, personally and professionally while contributing to its culture of continuous improvement.
The five awards will be presented during the annual ceremony on January 27, 2026, with this year’s honorees representing multiple categories that recognize creative and forward-thinking approaches to student support, meaningful collaborations and effective mentorship within advising units, as well as their dedication to delivering high-quality, student-centered advising.
“These awards highlight the critical role advisors play in shaping the student experience and underscore the importance of a collaborative approach to supporting student success,” Provost Vini Nathan said. “This year’s recipients exemplify the highest standards of advising and leadership, grounded in excellence and guided by the Auburn Creed.”
Now in its thirteenth year, the awards have recognized nearly 100 members of Auburn’s advising community for their trusted roles in guiding students through their academic journeys. Nominated by colleagues and selected by a peer-led committee, this year’s recipients represent the Colleges of Sciences and Mathematics and Architecture, Design and Construction, the Honors College and the Office of Information Technology. College of Architecture, Design and Construction
Demonstrating a commitment to supporting students even before they begin their academic coursework, the College of Architecture, Design and Construction’s Student Services Department delivers a responsive, student-centered Camp War Eagle orientation experience for incoming first-year students and their families each summer.
Redesigned in 2020, the unit’s advising model provides a scalable and intentional approach that includes major-specific advising, dedicated registration support, clear communication around fees and academic pathways, and ongoing opportunities for engagement and feedback. Led by a team of 10 advisors, administrators, recruiters and support staff, the two-day orientation program has contributed to improved retention rates in recent years by connecting students early with the guidance and resources needed for success. This proactive advising approach establishes clear expectations for incoming and current students and reinforces the level of support they can expect throughout their academic experience at Auburn.
In recent years, the program has continued to evolve through adjustments that enhance the student and family experience, including increased staffing to allow for more individualized attention, refined budget planning, and improved coordination of space and scheduling during the summer term. Together, these efforts have strengthened the program’s effectiveness and positioned it as a key contributor to student retention and success within the college.
