The process by which new programs and courses are created includes:
- Provost approval to begin development (for programs only)
- Submission of materials into the university’s Course Inventory Management (CIM) system
- Reviews/approvals by departmental, college and university committees, the Provost, and (if applicable) the university’s Board of Trustees and the Alabama Commission on Higher Education.
The extent to which a proposal is reviewed/approved depends on the type of proposal. The table below shows the reviews (R) and approvals (A) required for the most common curricular proposals.
