High School Scholarship Program (HSSP)

The AFROTC High School Scholarship Program (HSSP) awards scholarships to high school seniors planning to attend a college or university with an AFROTC detachment. Awards are based on your overall package — academics, leadership, fitness, and interview performance.

Scholarships can cover full or partial tuition and fees, and recipients also receive a book allowance and monthly stipend. The application window typically opens in the summer before your senior year and closes in January.

In-College Scholarships (ICSP)

Already enrolled at Auburn? You can still compete for an AFROTC scholarship. In-college scholarships are awarded to cadets who demonstrate strong academic performance, leadership potential, and physical fitness within the program.

Most in-college scholarships are awarded after the successful completion of Field Training as cadets enter the Professional Officer Course. These awards can cover tuition, fees, and include the same book allowance and monthly stipend as HSSP scholarships. Limited scholarships are available for AS100 and AS200 cadets on a competitive basis.

Cadet Pay

All contracted cadets receive a monthly stipend regardless of scholarship status. The stipend increases each year: approximately $300/month for freshmen, $350 for sophomores, $450 for juniors, and $500 for seniors. Scholarship recipients also receive a book allowance each semester. These amounts are set by the Air Force and may change — contact our cadre for the most current figures.
