Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey H. Welborn is the Professor of Aerospace Studies and Commander of Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 005 at Auburn University. He serves as head of the university’s Aerospace Studies department, instructs senior and sophomore courses on national security affairs and airpower history, supervises five faculty and staff members, and has overall responsibility for training and mentoring more than 120 students preparing to become Air Force officers.
Lt Col Welborn received his commission through AFROTC at the University pf Georgia in 1997. Most recently, he served as the Deputy Director of Operations J3 at the Joint Warfare Analysis Center (JWAC) in Dahlgren, Virginia. Lt Col Welborn has served as an instructor and flight examiner and has deployed multiple times in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He is a Joint Qualified Officer.
