WHEREAS, the American Association of University Professors, the American Council on Education,
and the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges in 1966 jointly developed a
WHEREAS, the Fisher Report drew attention to this Statement as the academic underpinning of shared governance in American higher education; and
WHEREAS, the Auburn University Board of Trustees expressed support of this Statement during their April meeting and may formally endorse it at their June meeting;
THEREFORE, the Auburn University Senate endorses the 1966 Statement on Government of Colleges and Universities and the principles of shared governance contained therein.
