Dan Whatley

 AVP, Facilities Operations

Dan Whatley is an experienced Civil Engineer who grew up in Hartselle, AL. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 2005 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and began his career at Doster Construction Company in Birmingham, AL where he managed various types of projects in the area.

In 2008, he had the opportunity to join the facilities management staff at Mississippi State University where he served in the roles of Project Manager, Construction Administrator, and Director of Facilities Management. While working at MSU, Dan earned his master’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in project management and obtained his professional engineering license for the state of Mississippi.

      In 2016, Dan joined the Auburn University Facilities Management team as the Director of the Maintenance Department and was promoted into his current role over Facilities Operations in 2019.  Dan oversees four departments – Campus Services, Landscape Services, Utilities & Energy, and Maintenance as well as the safety program for Facilities Management.
