Auburn University invests resources in a variety of activities and initiatives to keep employees, students, and visitors safe, prepared, and informed in case of an emergency.

Campus Safety and Security

The Department of Campus Safety and Security prepares for and responds to emergencies and issues that arise. The university’s partnership with the Auburn Police Department, Auburn Fire Department, East Alabama Medical Center, and other essential university as well as non-university partners and contractors helps ensure Auburn is a safe place to work.

Risk Management and Safety

Auburn University’s Risk Management and Safety serves to protect the people, environment, property, and financial resources at Auburn.

Risk Management and Safety is comprised of several safety departments, including Environmental Health and Safety, Laboratory and Radiation Safety, Risk Management and Insurance, and Safety and Health Programs

Emergency Closure

Auburn operates in accordance with the approved university calendar and maintains full operations unless specifically closed by the President or the President's designee.

The university will alter the academic or operating schedule to keep employees safe in response to emergencies, weather, safety conditions, or other unforeseen or uncontrollable circumstances.

The Employee Resource Guide was developed specifically for University Staff and Administrative & Professional (A&P) employees of Auburn University. Faculty members are also encouraged to reference the Faculty Handbook, as it includes policies and procedures that uniquely pertain to Faculty.

If there is a conflict, University Policies supersede the Employee Resource Guide or any previous employee handbooks.
