Auburn continues to distribute COVID-19 vaccines to the campus community in collaboration with state public health officials. As it becomes available, information about Auburn’s COVID-19 vaccine allocation and distribution plan will be posted on this page.

Vaccine availability

Auburn is expected to receive enough vaccine doses for the entire campus community, distributing them using a phased approach.

Individuals who wish to be vaccinated for COVID-19 are encouraged to take any opportunities to register or receive the vaccine that may be available to them, such as through health care providers or public health programs, in addition to registering through Auburn.

Vaccination Program Phases

The university is taking a phased approach to vaccine distribution. Currently, the university is in phase 3.

Phase 1A
  • Individuals serving in a healthcare setting who have the potential for direct or indirect exposure to patients or infectious materials and are unable to work remotely.

  • Campus first responders.

Phase 1B
  • Individuals 1) who are required to be on campus to perform their job duties, AND 2) who are unable to consistently maintain physical distancing while at work due to job responsibilities, AND 3) who have a high-risk medical condition as specified by the CDC and/or are age 65 or older.

Phase 1C
  • Individuals 1) who are required to be on campus to perform their job duties, AND 2) who are unable to consistently maintain physical distancing while at work due to job responsibilities

  • Other adults with high-risk medical condition as specified by the CDC and/or are age 65 or older that do not fall under 1b.

  • Designated student population involved in remote or off-campus clinical settings, including internships and practicums that involve direct human contact.

Phase 2
  • All individuals not included in Phase 1a, 1b or 1c as vaccine becomes available.

Phase 3
  • Family members and dependents of employees as vaccine becomes available.

  • Members of the local community as vaccine becomes available.

Additional Vaccine Distributors

Doses of the COVID-19 vaccine remain limited. Individuals who wish to be vaccinated for COVID-19 are encouraged to take any opportunities to register or receive the vaccine that may be available to them, such as through health care providers or public health programs, in addition to registering through Auburn.

The Alabama Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Dashboard contains a map that displays providers in the state that have received doses of the vaccine.

In the Auburn area, there are currently five distributors of the COVID-19 vaccine:

  • East Alabama Medical Center

    EAMC is operating a community COVID-19 vaccine clinic in the old Tuesday Morning building, 1716 Opelika Road. Residents of Lee, Macon and Chambers counties who fall in one of the following sub-groups are eligible to request a vaccination at this clinic:

    • Health care workers

    • EMS/First responders

    • Ages 65 and older

    • Education workers, including teachers, faculty and support staff at K-12 schools and colleges and universities (including Auburn employees)

    • Day care workers

    • Volunteers at Community COVID-19 Clinic

    Individuals meeting the requirements may register and schedule an appointment online.

  • Lee County Health Department
    Vaccinations are available to health care workers and individuals age 75 and older. Appointments are required and can be made by calling 855-566-5333.

  • Thomas Pharmacy
    Community members may call the pharmacy at 334-745-3632 to be placed on a waiting list. Please note, Thomas Pharmacy does NOT currently have doses at this time.

  • Auburn Urgent Care
    Vaccinations are currently being offered to health care workers, first responders and individuals age 75 and older. Call Auburn Urgent Care to register at 334-821-3221.
