The Office of College Preparation and Success (OCPS) advances Auburn’s land-grant mission by investing early in Alabama students who demonstrate high levels of academic achievement and other indicators of ability. Our programs focus on:

  • Early exposure to college-level expectations and academic rigor
  • Structured preparation and advising
  • Meaningful connections to Auburn’s academic and campus community
  • Supporting student achievement at Auburn University

Our Partners

Birmingham Promise provides up to four years of tuition assistance for graduates of Birmingham City Schools to attend any public two-year or four-year college or university in Alabama. The program also provides students with coaches to help them succeed in college. Birmingham Promise and Auburn University partner to provide comprehensive support to enrolled students.

GEAR UP Achieve is a partnership between the Auburn University College of Education’s Truman Pierce Institute, the Auburn University Center for Educational Outreach and Education and the Department of Curriculum and Teaching that supports Alabama students through a whole-grade, cohort-based approach to college and career readiness. Beginning in middle school and continuing through students’ first year of postsecondary education, the program provides mentoring, academic support, and structured planning to help students explore pathways, build essential skills, and prepare for life after high school. Administered through Auburn University and its partners, GEAR UP Achieve uses evidence-based practices to strengthen college and workforce readiness for participating students.

Every student’s path to Auburn is unique. The Pathway and Transfer Center supports students whose journey includes dual enrollment, concurrent enrollment, or transfer from another institution.

Programs include:

  • Auburn First, which allows high school students to earn Auburn University credit while completing high school coursework
  • Path to the Plains (P2P), a concurrent enrollment and transfer pathway for Alabama residents completing associate degrees at partner community colleges before transferring to Auburn

The Center for Educational Outreach and Engagement (CEOE) advances Auburn University’s commitment to empowering youth, schools, and communities across Alabama. CEOE develops and enhances programs that prepare students for college, careers, and global citizenship, with an emphasis on 21st-century skills and expanded educational opportunities.

Auburn Youth Programs is an extension of University Outreach that sponsors and executes over 75 summer programs designed to educate and inspire youth in a variety of academic, athletic, and extracurricular endeavors. Participants have the opportunity to further their education and develop skills while making new friends and experiencing life at Auburn University!
