What is AU InterConnect?

AU InterConnect is an initiative of the Graduate School with the following goals for our international graduate students:

  • Create opportunities for cross–cultural exchange

  • Foster a successful acclimation to the local culture and community

  • Organize new arrival services to meet practical needs

  • Connect students to resources on campus and in the community

  • Enhance the overall international graduate student experience

New Student Welcome Events
  • Welcome Dinners in Local Homes: Meet local families and fellow students in a relaxed, friendly setting.

  • Care Packages and Giveaways: Sponsored by community members to help you feel at home from day one.

  • Event Announcements: Stay informed about welcome events hosted by campus and community groups.

Year-Round Cultural Events & Activities

InterConnect and local volunteers organize a variety of activities throughout the year, including:

  • Group dinners and cultural celebrations

  • Hiking trips and beginner fishing events

  • Tours of local attractions

  • English conversation groups and more

International Graduate Experience (IGE) Seminars

Helpful seminars for new and current students provide essential tips and cultural insights. Seminars cover topics such as:

  • Getting Settled: What to Do, Where to Go, and How to Get There

  • Southern U.S. Culture

  • American Football & Auburn Traditions
