The Graduate School is pleased to recognize and support academic excellence with the C.L. “Shot” Senn Fellowship. Graduate faculty members are encouraged to nominate outstanding students for these awards. The nomination process is described below.

Eligibility Requirements

This $1,000 fellowship will be awarded each year to an Auburn University graduate student or incoming graduate student who:

  • Is enrolled in the Auburn University Graduate School;

  • Has a minimum college GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; and

  • Is a former Auburn University Division I athlete whose NCAA eligibility has ended.

Nomination Process

Faculty nominations should include the following:

  1. Letter of nomination;
  2. Nominee's degree program, major & department
  3. Nominee's cumulative GPA and anticipated graduation date
  4. Nominee's D1 sport and status


Selection of the recipient will be made by a review committee appointed by the Dean of the Graduate School in coordination with the Athletics Department. Selection will be made on the basis of academic and athletic achievement, as well as demonstrated financial need.

The deadline for submission of nominations is September 15th. If this date falls over a weekend or holiday, submissions are due by 8:00 am CT on the next business day.

Awardees will be notified by email and will be recognized at the Spring Graduate Awards ceremony.
