Safety Plan
Safety planning is an essential component of competent and ethical teletherapy practice. Safety planning involves identifying steps and procedures for addressing situations that present a risk to the safety of clients and other persons, such as family members, during the course of teletherapy services.
Your exact location will be requested at the beginning of each session. This is essential because therapy at a distance poses difficulties in addressing client safety when there is a crisis. Your exact location helps us identify emergency services or referrals are needed. Your therapist will review and revise the safety plan, as needed, prior to ending every teletherapy session.
At the end of each visit your therapist will scheduling their next appointment, providing payment information, help with completing assessments, etc.). The therapist should also ask about your experience in the TAFT session, what worked for you, and what didn’t work. The goal is to collaborate as therapy is technology assisted.
