To support Auburn University's mission and ensure the organization maintains the standards of an R1 Research Institution, the University facilitates the establishment and collaborative management of dedicated research centers and institutes focused on furthering the work being done in their designated fields. Generally, "centers" refer to interdisciplinary or interdepartmental programs contained with a single college, while "institutes" are larger programs extending across multiple colleges.
