Best Buddies is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of adults (19+) with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing opportunities for friendship and more. Our chapter's mission is to build one-on-one friendships between our college members and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) from the Auburn-Opelika area.
This offers social interactions while improving the quality of life and level of inclusion for a population that is often isolated and excluded. Through their participation, people with IDD form meaningful connections with their peers, gain self-confidence and self-esteem, and share interests, experiences and activities that many other individuals enjoy. We strive to form a community for not just our buddies, but also our college students, providing a chance for friendships and service.
