The following data were collected using institutional records and an alumni survey that is administered within 6 months post-graduation. Historical data are provided where available.

Student Attrition and Retention

The program maintains records of attrition and retention beginning when students enroll in the pre-major (INDX). Acceptance rates are tracked and reported as the percentage of students who are accepted from those that apply; the number of students enrolled in the pre-major is often greater than the number of students who apply to the interior design major (INDS). Student retention indicates what percentage of students remain at Auburn University to complete a degree, inclusive of students who remain in the major as well as those who change to another major for degree completion. Historical data for INDX/INDS student attrition and retention are summarized below.

Graduation Rates:

A full-time student typically takes approximately 15 credits per semester. Effective Fall 2018, the typical full-time student can complete the degree program in 4 years, including an 8 credit hour internship that is usually completed in the Summer of the junior year.

Students who graduated prior to Fall 2018 typically completed the degree program in 4.3 year (9 semesters); in the 2014-2015 academic year, for example, 55% graduated in 4 years. Historical data for INDS graduation rates are available and provided below.

34 of 38 students who graduated in 2018 and responded to the alumni survey reported employment in interior design or a related profession within 6 months of graduation from the INDS program.
