At the AU MFT center, we recognize that some people may feel very apprehensive about coming in for therapy. We strive to make your experience at our facilities as comfortable as possible. To find out more about your therapy “firsts,” please see the corresponding links below.
When you first call the Glanton House, we will ask you a few initial questions such as your name, contact information, and what prompted you to call. This is how you will set up your first appointment time and date.Ê
When you first walk in you will be greeted by our receptionist with a warm smile. She or he will not ask you to explain yourself or ask any personal questions; we will simply confirm that you are here for your appointment. We will have you fill out some paper work if you have not already done so.
Your Therapist will come introduce themself to you and take you up to a comfortable room where you will begin your first session. Every session is unique and tailored to our clients needs.Ê You and your therapist will get to know each other forming a trusting a trusting bond and enabling you to achieve the goals that you set together in therapy.
Therapy sessions are typically held weekly and last approximately 50 minutes. Again, therapy is tailored to our client’s needs, therefore number of sessions is determined by client progress.
Because of our commitment to offer rigorous training and outstanding professional services, all therapy sessions are video taped so that therapists can go back and review the sessions. ÊAt times, faculty supervisors and/or colleagues may observe sessions from behind a one-way mirror to provide feedback to therapists to ensure high-quality experiences for our clients
