University launches new initiative to support LGBTQ+ individuals on campus
Article body
The Office of Inclusion and Diversity is seeking faculty, staff and students who are interested in becoming part of an initiative focused on evaluating and pursuing action items aimed at improving the campus climate for the Auburn LGBTQ+ community. Interested individuals will be leaders or members of four distinct Action Committees, each committee focusing on different aspect of the Auburn experience. The committees will evaluate questions based off the Campus Pride Index (CPI) in the unique context of Auburn University. CPI has been the premier LGBTQ+ national benchmarking tool for colleges and universities to create a safer, more inclusive campus community since 2007.
These Action Committees will be led by an undergraduate student, graduate student, faculty member, staff member and A&P member. They will also consist of committee members who can provide their unique viewpoint and expertise to aid in the decision-making process. Each of these Action Committees will be responsible for engaging campus partners, conducting focus groups and pursuing action items for a more inclusive campus at Auburn University.
If you are interested in becoming a leader or member of these committees, please fill out the interest form at https://aub.ie/campuspride. To nominate someone for the committees, please send their name and email address to campuspride@auburn.edu. The deadline for interest forms is Aug. 28.
