Pride Month is recognized each June to coincide with the anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising of June 28, 1969, a turning point in LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer) rights.

Auburn recognizes and acknowledges the vast contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals to society and culture. The university and the Office of Inclusion and Diversity, or OID, are committed to supporting and fostering an inclusive environment for all individuals.

Pride on The Plains, a local organization, will host Pride Fest with several activities leading up to the culmination event set for Sunday, June 4. Students interested in attending or getting involved with Pride on The Plains can visit its Facebook page.

The Office of Inclusion and Diversity would like to invite faculty and staff to a Pride Month Celebration Lunch. This networking event to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community on campus will be held June 9, from noon-1:30 p.m. in the Melton Student Center Room 2222/2223. RSVP.

To ensure students were able to participate in events that celebrate and recognize Pride Month, the Office of Inclusion and Diversity held its annual Pride Week, April 24-28. During that week, Auburn hosted the second annual Lavender Celebration to honor students and acknowledge their achievements and contributions to the university. Additionally, students are able to participate in activities and events throughout the year hosted by Spectrum: The Gay-Straight Alliance at Auburn University.
