  • Over the past decade, Auburn tuition rates have consistently tracked the inflation rate, while student scholarships have increased by 25% and need-based aid has grown a staggering 460% — from $1.2 million to an impressive $8.4 million.

  • Adjusted for inflation, Auburn’s 2013 total scholarships for students amounted to $168 million, which by 2022 had risen to an inflation adjusted $209.4 million.

  • Adjusted for inflation, Auburn’s 2013 tuition per credit hour for in-state students was $432.15. The 2022-2023 tuition rate was $433 per credit hour for in-state students, which represents an 85 cent increase.

  • Adjusted for inflation, Auburn’s 2013 tuition per credit hour for out-of-state students was $1296.46. The 2022-2023 tuition rate was $1299 per credit hour for out-of-state students, which represents an $2.54 increase.

  • Review of IPEDs data highlights Auburn’s 2021-2022 in-state tuition and fees annually were $490 higher than our SREB peers. Our 2021-2022 out-of-state tuition and fees annually are $60 lower than our SREB peers.

  • Adjusted for inflation, Auburn's 2013 total compensation and benefits for faculty and staff amounted to $712 million and by 2022 had risen to $783 million – a 10% increase in compensation and benefits, after inflation.

Ambitious Students

  • For fall 2023, Auburn enrolled the largest freshmen class in history — 5,935 students, with an average high school GPA of 4.15 and average ACT score of 27.1.

  • Auburn boasts a 93% one-year retention rate, which demonstrates that our students are satisfied with the education they are receiving and their on-campus experiences.

  • For the 2024-2025 academic year, Auburn has received more than 41,000 freshman applications as of mid-November — a record increase of more than 15% compared to the previous year.

  • For the 2022-2023 academic year, we received 48,178 freshmen applications up from the 15,356 applications we received for the 2013-2014 application year. As a result, our acceptance rate went from 83.2% in 2013 to 43.7% in 2023.
