Effective immediately, Rick Hansen has resigned from his position as the dean of the Harrison College of Pharmacy. Dr. Dan Surry, professor and associate dean for faculty affairs and strategic initiatives, is the acting dean starting today. The Office of the Provost will launch an internal search for an interim dean in the coming weeks. The interim dean will serve until a national search for a permanent dean is conducted.
“The past couple days have been a challenge, but the faculty and staff of the Harrison College of Pharmacy are continuing to work hard and provide the best educational, clinical and research experiences possible for our students,” Surry said. “The college is more than one person, and I assure you it is filled with outstanding and dedicated people who are professionals and leaders in their fields. Through all of this, our students come first and foremost and we are here to support them in their efforts to becoming practice ready pharmacists and pharmaceutical scientists.”
The creation and maintenance of a safe environment for our students will always be the highest priority for Auburn. The university prohibits sexual harassment and addresses all reports under its policies, including allegations of off-campus conduct when appropriate.
