Sonic Nation performing on stage at Global Festival in Auburn
On Saturday, April 20, 2024, the Office of Outreach Global will host its third annual Global Community Day Festival from 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Opelika Amphitheater. The theme for this year’s free festival is: “Taking care of each other and our earth."
The 2024 Global Community Day Festival will draw in international and domestic communities from Auburn, Opelika and the surrounding areas to experience a day dedicated to cultural exchange and celebration. Activities throughout the day will include the Parade of the Flags, the Vendor Trade Fair, the Global Attire Showcase, musical performances, dance demonstrations, international food trucks, arts and crafts and games. Come and enjoy performances from Sonic Nation, VIBE, Celtic Traditions School of Irish Dance, a Korean Samulnori group with a choir and orchestra, a local Indian dance group and more. This year’s festival will also celebrate Earth Day and our shared responsibility to protect and preserve our planet for future generations.
Outreach Global invites individuals and organizations to participate in the festival: perform a cultural song/dance, walk in the Parade of the Flags, demonstrate a cultural game, have a booth/table representing your organization/country. If you would like to participate, please register online.
The event is also looking for volunteers to help with set-up, managing the event and clean-up. Volunteers will be given breakfast, lunch and a T-shirt.
For more information on registering as a participant or volunteer, please contact either Elizabeth Quansah at eid0001@auburn.edu or Olivia Houlden at oph0007@auburn.edu, or visit Outreach Global's website.
The 2024 Global Community Day Festival is sponsored by the Alabama Office of Minority Affairs, City of Opelika, Spicer’s Music, 4imprint, DME Delivers, NFBPA, Korea Foundation USA, Starbucks - Opelika and Krispy Kreme.
