The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is updating the way external emails are labeled in your inbox to enhance email security and help you quickly identify messages sent from outside Auburn University.

What's Changing?

  • New "External" Label: Starting Sunday, February 2, 2025, emails from senders outside of Auburn.
  • Red Alert Banner: At the top of external emails, you'll see a red notification banner that reads, "This sender is from outside your organization." This alert is designed to remind you to review external messages carefully.

These updates make it easier to identify messages from outside Auburn and stay vigilant against potential phishing attempts or other email threats.
