Auburn University’s College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment (CFWE) is launching the state’s first parks and recreation management undergraduate degree program to prepare students to lead an increasingly recognized industry vital to well-being, community growth and diversification.

Auburn University's College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment received a five-year project from the Alabama Department of Conservation of Natural Resources. Led by Jonathon Valente, assistant research professor, the study examines habitat management effects on wildlife in Alabama's Wildlife Management Areas. Using a variety of research methods, Valente's team will assess how wildlife communities are responding to management changes and evaluate outcomes.

Josephine Lee Wolan, a graduating senior in wildlife science, pre-veterinary medicine from Hoffman Estates, Illinois, has been chosen to lead the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment’s class of 2023 at Auburn University’s fall commencement ceremony on Dec. 9.
