During a ceremony held on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at the Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center, more than 30 Auburn faculty were recognized as reappointed or newly appointed endowed chairs, professors and eminent scholars.
The event, hosted by the Office of the Provost, honored each faculty member with the presentation of a commemorative medallion inscribed with their endowed title. Also recognized were five new Alumni Professors representing the College of Sciences and Mathematics, the College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment, the College of Education and the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering.
Bob Dumas, Auburn University Board of Trustees member, offered words of welcome with President Christopher B. Roberts giving remarks underscoring the impact of endowments on faculty excellence.
"You all represent the very best of the academy by elevating the scholarly rigor inside and outside your departments," said Roberts as he addressed the honorees.
"In addition to teaching and research, you also serve as a vital resource to our communities, industry and alumni. Through these efforts, you are inevitably raising the profile of Auburn and strengthening our impact."
