
Employees can take advantage of professional development courses
HR Development (HRD) is offering more than 50 professional development classes this summer.
All classes are being offered via Zoom. Full-time, part-time and temporary employees are all eligible to register.
HRD courses are designed with working adults in mind. These classes help employees:
Bill Shannon, Director, HRD, will facilitate several courses, including the following:

“Productive Dialogue”, TW400, July 15: In this new course, participants will explore effective communication for both individuals and groups.

“Driving Creativity, MG630, June 16: This class is designed for supervisors. Participants will learn four methods to help improve creative approaches to work or projects.
Layli Miron, Program Administrator, Office of University Writing, will facilitate two professional writing courses:

“Writing Effective Emails”, PW100, June 29: Participants will discuss best practices, consider specific email scenarios, practice revising email samples to be more effective and ask questions related to their own use of email in the workplace.

“Emails for Challenging Scenarios”, PW110, July 28: This workshop will offer strategies and best practices for communicating via email, including guidance on how to address common challenges.
HRD will offer several courses on leadership and supervision, including “Performance Management Introduction and Fundamentals”, MG507, on July 27. Designed for supervisors, this “combination” course will be facilitated by Kim Graham, Instructional Designer, HRD.
