Auburn University is committed to enhancing the education and professional development of employees. The University also recognizes the hard work and value added by all employees.

Performance Development

Performance development is a partnership between the supervisor and the employee. The focus is on helping the employee set goals, uphold values from The Auburn Creed, and achieve their full potential.

The performance development process begins with alignment, continues with collaborating through one-on-one meetings, and ends with a final evaluation.

This is an annual process beginning June 1 and ending May 31. The process is intended to be a constructive two-way collaboration between the supervisor and the employee.

Leadership Development

Aspire Auburn, AU’s free leadership development program, reinforces our values-based culture and maintains our status as a premier institution. Aspire Auburn's core values — excellenceintegrity, and respect— are at the heart of this effort.

Aspire Auburn will equip leaders at all levels with the tools needed to succeed as employees, supervisors, faculty leaders, directors, or executives at Auburn University. 

Educational Benefits

Employee Benefit

Auburn University offers a tuition waiver for eligible employees of up to 15 hours per academic year. Full-time employees must complete one year of continuous service and be eligible for the Auburn dental plan.

Dependent Benefit

Auburn University offers a 50% tuition waiver for undergraduate-level courses to spouses and eligible dependents of full-time employees and faculty. Spouse or dependent eligibility begins on the first day of employment for the employee. Dependents must be eligible for the Auburn dental plan.

Dependent Education Benefit Policy

ElevatED

ElevatED, Auburn's Employee Education Center, is designed to help Auburn employees bINVOLVED in their career progression, LEARN from and with peers, and GROW personally and professionally.

Each semester, dozens of professional development classes are offered to employees, along with on-demand offerings.

Spirit of Excellence

Each month, Auburn University recognizes up to four eligible employees with the Spirit of Excellence award.

Eligible employees are recognized from the Service/Maintenance, Office Administration, Technical, and Administrative/Professional groups for going above and beyond. 

Employee Appreciation Week

At Auburn University, appreciation is key to creating community. Full-time, part-time, and temporary, employees are honored for the hard work and dedication they give to the University.

A special event is held each day during Employee Appreciation Week to thank employees for helping to make Auburn such a great place to work.

Years of Service

Auburn's Employee Recognition Award Program recognizes employees for their years of service to the university. Employees receive recognition awards based on years of service.  

In order to receive an award in any particular year, the employee must have completed the appropriate years of service by Dec. 31 of the year prior to the award ceremony.

Eligible retirees will also be recognized for their years of service to Auburn.

Important to Note

The Employee Resource Guide was developed specifically for University Staff and Administrative & Professional (A&P) employees of Auburn University. Faculty members are also encouraged to reference the Faculty Handbook, as it includes policies and procedures that uniquely pertain to Faculty.

If there is a conflict, University Policies supersede the Employee Resource Guide or any previous employee handbooks.
