green leading teams badge with samford hall graphicAspire Auburn's Leading Teams program is tailored for any Auburn leader who oversees one or multiple teams. This program will empower participants to build, lead, and enable teams to have a positive impact at Auburn University and beyond.

Participants will learn how to enable their team’s full potential in keeping with Auburn's Core Values of Excellence, Integrity, and Respect along with the leadership principles of Empower, Enable, Encourage, and Develop.

Through a robust and intentional series of in-person classes, participants will be active and engaged in seminars focused on discussion and analysis of leadership concepts. Active participation and commitment to personal growth are essential for success.

Human Resource Development extends our gratitude to the 21 employees from across campus who volunteered their time over six weeks to pilot this program. Their valuable feedback has enhanced the learning experience for future seminars.

Program Specifics

This program will empower participants to lead people in a manner that inspires and enables teams to achieve their full potential. 

Program Syllabus

  • Analyze various leadership approaches for effectively leading teams, drawing on evidence-based models and personal reflection.
  • Evaluate decision-making practices to identify opportunities for team improvement and alignment with university goals.
  • Analyze your team’s values and align them with the Auburn University Strategic Plan and Code of Conduct.
  • Develop techniques to inspire a shared vision, strategically plan, and lead change within your department, applying frameworks for change management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Design a strategic roadmap for your team or department that incorporates key performance indicators, measures of effectiveness, and actionable steps for achieving long-term success.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills by facilitating team meetings, resolving conflicts, and fostering psychological safety and trust among team members.

The Leading Teams program includes 10 seminar-style sessions and a one-day FranklinCovey retreat. Each seminar lasts 3.5 hours and emphasizes team learning and discussion.

Class size is limited to 21 participants. Class topics were carefully selected by Auburn University’s Leadership Development Working Group and approved by the Advisory Group. All classes will be facilitated by Auburn University instructors. The keynote closing might be presented by an external speaker.

  • First class (95 minutes)
  • 15-minute break
  • Second class (95 minutes)

Enrollment for Leading Teams opened on Nov. 3, 2025, to any Executive Director, Director, Assistant Director, Department Chair or above who has completed the Leading People program.

Prior to going to the enrollment site, we highly encourage you to carefully review How to Enroll in Aspire Auburn.

NOTE: Aspire Auburn's Leading Teams program utilizes peer learning circles to garner conversation and engagement on leadership topics. To maximize participant involvement in peer learning circles, we require a minimum of 15 participants per seminar. If we do not enroll at least 15, we will close the seminar and ask participants to enroll in another offering.
