The ABM program offers high-achieving Auburn University undergradaute students the opportunity to earn the bachelor’s and the master’s degrees in less time and at less cost than usual. Exceptional undergraduates may count up to nine credit hours (in a 30-hour master’s program) or 12 credit hours (in a 36-hour master’s program) of concurrent graduate course work toward both degrees.
Students typically apply for the ABM program as they head into their junior year and, if approved, take one or two graduate courses per semester that also count towards fulfilling their undergraduate degree requirements. Students then apply for graduate school admission during their senior or final year of undergraduate studies. Once students graduate with a bachelor's degree, they enter graduate school having already earned between 9-12 graduate credit hours.
The time required to then complete the master's degree has now been shortened, thus reducing the tuition costs as well.

ABM students generally apply for admission to Graduate School at the beginning of the senior or final year of undergraduate studies. Students should consult the department website or Graduate Program Officer (GPO) for application deadlines for their program of interest. Each department sets their own program timelines.
Students must complete the bachelor’s degree, be admitted to the Graduate School and the degree program before entering the master’s degree program. Admission into the ABM program does not guarantee admission into the Graduate School. Students must still apply for admission to the Graduate School (including submitting the Graduate School application, pay the application fee, and provide transcripts and standardized test scores (if required) by the prescribed deadlines. Once admitted, students should contact a Graduate School advisor to have graduate level courses applied to the graduate program.
Students may withdraw voluntarily from the ABM program at any time. Students must notify, in writing, the graduate program officer and the coordinator/director of undergraduate studies in their respective departments. A copy of the request to withdraw from the program should be sent to the Dean of the Graduate School.
Students who withdraw from the program voluntarily or because they do not meet program requirements will not be awarded graduate credit for double-counted courses.
