Professional Development Courses Focus on Enhancing Workplace Culture

O

ne of the most popular new professional development courses offered to employees of Auburn is "Cultural Wallpaper" (LD104C).

This course, developed by Michael Von Ahnen, Manager, Employee Relations and Investigations, is designed to help employees identify workplace trends that can potentially lead to a negative work environment. In addition, this class provides participants with the tools needed to improve the culture in their own offices.

The course emphasizes that work culture is shaped by the attitudes and behaviors of employees at all levels, from leadership to entry-level positions. The term "Cultural Wallpaper" is used to illustrate how the culture in an organization can be noticeable and impactful, whether positive or negative. The presentation also discusses the importance of leaders setting high standards and enforcing them consistently to foster a professional and positive work environment

Looking Ahead

Von Ahnen has also developed a new ElevatED course, “Judging Too Quickly” (PP111C) class.

This course gives attendees the opportunity for self-reflection when it comes to how they judge things in their daily lives. Methods to slow down decision making process are explored and discussed.
