Programs Pave the Way to Student Employment Success
Employment Services works closely with campus partners to enhance student employment opportunities at Auburn.
Student Job Expo
The Inaugural Weagle Worker Campus Job Expo, held at the Harold D. Melton Student Center, is a highlight of National Student Employment Week.
Organized by Employment Services, this event provides a platform for departments to showcase job opportunities and engage with students about current and future openings. Students have the chance to network, explore various job options, and enhance their job search strategies.
New Camp War Eagle Session
In 2024, Employment Services introduced a new session for Camp War Eagle and Successfully Orienting Students (SOS) titled “Orange, Blue, & Earning for You.” With student employees making up nearly 50% of Auburn's workforce, this session offered invaluable insights on how they can support their education both financially and professionally. It emphasized the importance of maintaining focus on their primary goal: earning their degree.
Participants learned about various student job opportunities, essential considerations for balancing work and academics, and practical tips for searching and applying for positions. The session emphasized the dual benefits of earning money and gaining work experience while staying connected to the campus community.

Further Focus
Employment Services and the City of Auburn are partnering to launch an internship program to support Fort Benning service members who are transitioning from the Army to civilian careers.
This 12-week, on-the-job training program will allow interns to be trained in specific roles or cross-trained across multiple jobs, providing valuable hands-on university experience. Departments will become familiar with a service member’s skills, working style, and aptitude, including their leadership and management abilities, problem-solving skills, discipline, and work ethic. This will enable departments to gauge their potential for future employment opportunities.
By implementing this program, the university will not only support transitioning service members but also benefit from their knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Talent Acquisition Services' expansion will bring a range of improved features to optimize the recruitment process. Several examples are listed below:
-
Strategic searches involve hiring departments working with a Talent Acquisition Specialist to create a customized recruitment strategy to actively engage candidates, leveraging sources such as LinkedIn Recruiter, Internet Boolean searches, and targeted email campaigns.
-
Enhanced advertising extends the reach of job postings through premium strategies such as social media campaigns, programmatic advertising, and sponsored job postings.
-
Candidate engagement and communication ensure frequent and meaningful interactions with candidates, including initial screenings and ongoing engagement to maintain their interest.
-
Campus tours for interview candidates are offered by golf cart, providing an engaging Auburn experience that showcases the university's traditions and campus environment, helping candidates feel more connected to the university.
-
Finally, welcome gifts for interview candidates, including Auburn-themed gift baskets with local products and university memorabilia, are delivered to candidates' hotels or interview locations, further enhancing their experience and connection to the university.
Employment Services will collaborate with various units within UHR, the Office of Information Technology (OIT), and the Provost's Office to establish a standard process for enlisting non-employees to perform operations on campus.
This process will outline the appropriate procedures for requesting different types of access. This initiative will benefit the university by ensuring consistency, efficiency, and compliance.
