HRD Programs Foster Culture of Excellence

Two recent accomplishments for HR Development are the successful launch of the Aspire Auburn leadership development initiative and the implementation of the ACE Performance Process. These ambitious projects underscore HRD’s commitment to fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and professional growth and development at Auburn.

Aspire Auburn

The Aspire Auburn Leading Self program for employees launched in July, while the Leading People program for supervisors kicked off in October.

Both programs are designed to foster leadership skills among Auburn employees at any level. Aspire Auburn is a major priority for President Roberts as it was presented to the Board of Trustees and included as a key performance indicator (KPI) in the Strategic Plan for Goal #3 Commitment to Excellence and Innovation.

The program has received positive feedback from participants and is expected to expand in 2026 with the launch of Leading Teams for directors and department chairs.

ACE Performance

The ACE Performance Process leverages Auburn’s new Core Values and Leadership Principles to set a new standard of excellence.

Once fully implemented, the process will include annual performance evaluations, goal-setting discussions, and personalized development plans. By aligning individual objectives with the university's strategic goals, ACE Performance will ensure that every employee contributes to Auburn's overall success. Furthermore, the process promotes a culture of continuous improvement and accountability, fostering an environment where employees feel valued and motivated to excel.

Feedback from the initial phase of implementation has been overwhelmingly positive.

Further Focus: Employee Engagement Survey

The Employee Engagement Survey conducted in the fall was a confidential survey administered by McLean & Company, an independent HR research firm. The survey aimed to gather feedback from all full-time Faculty, Staff, and A&P employees regarding Auburn's programs and practices.

The insights gained will help:

  • Evaluate how well the university is meeting the needs of its employees

  • Identify areas for improvement in future programs

  • Ensure that Auburn remains a great place to work
